I remember signing up on SCIII in 1/00. I made a couple of posts under the name "Buttspray", and all I got were posts saying "troll" or ????... The name was (I guess) a little heavy for a newbie. Anyway, I lost interest and started posting under Tarkus about 6-8 months later.
First real pile-on/flame war: The "Rap is NOT music" thread. I remember getting into it pretty hard with D-Dogg and Arch (who turn out to be about the two coolest posters around)...
I agree - I miss the "Actual" newbies coming on. Nowdays, any newbie is a troll....... Hope it comes back.......

Yep...I freaked out when I first looked at the SC board. I had been on a few other boards and they would cast the heavy hand if a four letter word like FUCK slipped out.
Anyway, it was exciting and new to me so I enjoyed it. A melting pot of all types of people...Fun and controversy were/are inevitable!

Rack this thread!! I was blown away by SC, in retrospect, during its glory days of 2000. Gotta agree with a few posters especially:
Like Biggie, I believe the biggest problem with the other boards is lack of new blood. Most of us who wound up on SC stumbled onto it after listening to Romey pimp it a few times (seemed he stopped doing so after it blew up, and the smack on the board became far superior to the smack on his show). The other boards serve a purpose but newbies get here strictly by word of mouth. Many of the vets complained about newbies, and some had to pile on every newbie for no other reason than piling on newbies, but they helped keep it fresh. (And btw, Biggie, the ubiquitous Top 10 and Best Drummer/Guitarist/Bassist threads always provided plenty of cover for the newbies, the vets avoided them like the plague.)
Like DMike316, I was closing in on 2000 posts when they shut SC down. http://www.hostboard.com/forums/ Don't know if I was as close as you, but I was in easy striking distance nonetheless.
And El gets a rack for bringing back memories of Dr.D's old post totals as does Tomas for mentioning Gator Dave (although Dr.D's post per day total was comparable to Gator Dave's over a much longer period of time). http://www.hostboard.com/forums/ Certainly in total word count, Dr. D blew everyone away over at SC. And even strictly in terms of number of posts, he was running neck and neck with Cinder/Blondie until she put on the afterburners and left him in the dust. But El, methinks you are jumping to conclusions by assuming that this Dr.D is not the original. I came on in September of 2000. I had no fucking clue it would be like it was. Fucking hottie threads and all the shit like that. It rocked. The thing that sticks with me the most from my early days is MCT's 1k thread. All I could think was, "My God! That is unfreakingbelievable!"
I remember the first time I started a thread. I still had not picked up on all the lingo and not being from the ghetto I had no idea way "late" meant. (Lame, yes I know.) So I figured what the hell, and asked. I think I got like 4 replies calling me a troll. Most replies ever.. far...
